History of Indian Air Force Day 2025
The Indian Air Force was formed on October 8th, 1932. Initially, it was referred to as the ‘Royal Indian Air Force’. With Independence, the ‘Royal’ was removed, and the name was changed to Indian Air Force. The Indian Air Force has come a long way, from having just four planes and six officers, to being one of the most powerful air forces. Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee is regarded as the founder of the Indian Air Force and the first Air Chief Marshal of independent India.

Indian Air Force Day Theme 2025
The Indian Air Force Day 2025 theme is “Operation Sindoor”. This theme shows the Air Force’s commitment to sacrifice, strategy, and operational readiness. Through this theme, the IAF seeks to demonstrate its readiness to face any challenges, whether they involve security, internal problems, or humanitarian assistance. The Air Force’s execution of Operation Sindoor also showed the world the Indian IAF’s capability.
