Mamata Banerjee’s controversial statement on Kumbh, BJP reacts sharply
BJP has hit back at a controversial comment by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the ongoing Kumbh in Prayagraj.
On Tuesday, in the Assembly, CM Mamata Banerjee raised questions on the fair administration regarding the deaths in the stampede at Kumbh.
Mamata Banerjee targeted the VIP culture at the fair and said, “Tents for rent up to Rs 1 lakh are available there for the rich and VIPs.”
At the same timea , Mamta Banerjee accused of not having adequate arrangements and said, “I respect the Maha Kumbh, I respect the holy Ganga Maa. But there was no plan there. How many people were saved? Stampede situation is common in the fair, but it is important to make arrangements. What were your arrangements?”
What did BJP say?
BJP leaders have reacted sharply to Mamta Banerjee’s comment.
BJP leader KK Sharma stated, “The manner in which the India Alliance is stirring controversy over Kumbh is highly disappointing and unwarranted.”
Such a statement is hurting the beliefs of the people. BJP strongly condemns such statements.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh reached Prayagraj on Tuesday for Kumbh bath and he called Mamta Banerjee’s statement unfortunate.
He said, “Lakhs of people are coming here and handling them is a big task in itself and a difficult challenge for any government. I think the Yogi government has done a great job. I appeal to all the leaders to exercise restraint in their statements.”
