Tata Motors was recognised for a significant achievement in the Indian automobile sector in September 2025. In just one month, the automobile sector giant sold over 60,000 vehicles. The company surpassed the competitors, Hyundai and Mahindra, for the “second biggest automobile seller in the country” title. The attributes for this achievement stem from the 60,097 vehicles sold in one month, an increase of 47% from the previous year.
Reasons Behind the Surge
Examining the reasons given in the “Tata Motors Sales Report”, the primary explanations for this achievement are the increase in vehicle purchases during the festive season, combined with the revised rates for the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Managing Director Shailesh Chandra commented, “GST 2.0 and the start of the festive season have boosted vehicle demand significantly.” There were 59,667 units in the domestic market sales, and the company enjoyed a 45% increase in that number.
