ICAI’s important announcement: CA final exam will be held three times a year from 2025, know full details

ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) has made important changes for the students of CA course and has decided to conduct CA final examinations three times every year. This change will be effective from the year 2025. ICAI had earlier also decided to conduct intermediate and foundation level examinations three times a year.

What is the new rule?

• CA final examinations were till now held twice a year (May and November).
• From 2025, exams will be held in May, September and January.
• This means that students will now get more opportunities and be better prepared.

Why was this change made?
ICAI has made this decision to make the course more flexible and to meet the needs of students. So:

1. Less pressure: If a student does not clear one or two groups, he will not have to wait for six months; he will have to appear for the exam again in just four months.
2. Faster completion: Students will now be able to complete their studies quickly and focus on their art or work.
3. Sync with other levels: Intermediate and Foundation exams were previously held three times a year, but now final also comes under this system.

What will be the new schedule?

The new pattern will be more or less like this, although ICAI has not released any official date sheet yet:

Benefits and Challenges for Students: Less gap: If a group fails, they can retake immediately.

Better planning: Students will now be allowed to focus on one group instead of preparing for both groups simultaneously.

Challenges: Less preparation time: If a student fails in May, he will get only four months to re-appear in September.

Regular exam pressure: Frequent exams can tire some students.

Make a group-wise plan—try to clear one group at a time.
